6 Ways To Naturally Clean Your Produce

Pesticide-laden produce is a fact of life. No matter which grocery store you go to, this is unavoidable.

Protect yourself and your family from the harmful effects of pesticide ingestion with these 6 easy tricks:

1. Cold water.
It sounds like a no-brainer, but a simple rinse with cold water can actually remove three-fourths of pesticide residue from your fruits and veggies.
2. Salt and water solution.
Add 2 teaspoons of salt to a bowl of warm water, and let it cool to room-temperature. Let your produce sit in this solution for thirty minutes and then rinse with cold water.
3. White vinegar and water solution.
Add a tablespoon of white vinegar to a bowl of warm water, place your produce in the bowl for a few minutes, and then rinse with cold water.
4. Baking soda, lemon juice, and water solution.
Combine 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice in a spray bottle filled with water. Spray your
produce with this solution, and let your fruits and veggies sit for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water.
5. Lemon essential oil solution.
Add 2-3 drops of lemon essential oil to a bowl of water, and mix well. Place your produce in the bowl, and allow
your fruits and vegetables to soak for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water.
6. Berry cleansing solution.
For dainty, hard-to-clean berries, combine 1/2 cup of freshly-squeezed lemon juice and 2 cups of water in a spray bottle. Allow the berries to sit in the solution, and then soak them in cold water for 10 minutes. Remember to let them air-dry before storing.
