7 Things You Should Never Put On Your Face

The skin on the face is among the most sensitive areas on the body. If not taken care of, it can be easily damaged. There are many products and treatments that claim they’re effective, but most of them are very harmful to the skin.

Many of the things we’re using on our face every day should never be applied to it – here’s a list of 7 ingredients you should never put on your face!

1. Hairspray

You’ve probably noticed that many different home remedies for skin care include hairspray! Why – because the hairspray will help you dry out the acne and help you with other skin problems. Yes, hairspray will dry out your skin and acne, but it will also clog your pores and lead to irritation of the skin.

2. Toothpaste

Many people around the world apply toothpaste on their face – usually to dry out the acne. Yes, this will help you with your acne problems, but, unfortunately, it will also irritate the skin and can cause serious skin problems, such as chemical burns or scars.

3. Hot water

Warm or hot water opens the pores and this allows dirt to enter and cause inflammations and infections. Instead of using warm or hot water to wash your face, you should use lukewarm water and avoid spending too much time showering, especially in the winter period when the skin is more prone to dryness and itchiness.

4. Baking soda

Opposite to what you may have thought by now and what numerous beauty bloggers advise, baking soda is not a good skin cleaning agent because it is an alkaline ingredient which destroys the acid mantle of the skin which protects it from pollution, damage, and bacteria, removes the oil and moisture from the skin, and makes it more sensitive to sun exposure.

5. Rubbing alcohol

Rubbing alcohol is just as harmful to your facial skin as hydrogen peroxide. It can inflame your skin and cause inflammation, which is why it should never be applied to the face.

6. Lemon

Lemon is an acidic ingredient which can chip away the enamel on your teeth and damage the skin on your face. The juice can cause irritation and make things worse if you’re suffering from skin inflammation.

7. Body lotion

You should never cleanse the face with body lotion because if it was created for the facial skin, it would not be called body lotion. The facial skin is different from the skin on the rest of the body so it requires different cleaning methods.
