How to Prevent Female Urinary Tract Infections


Urinary tract infections are very common in women, which is why it is so important that you know a few ways to prevent this infection. The good news is that there are so many ways to prevent them, that it could even be possible to never have to suffer from them.

  • Special care for intimate hygiene

There are certain basic recommendations that every woman should know. You should always keep them in mind, starting with: when you go to the bathroom, always wipe from front to back. With this simple step, you can prevent germs from the rectum from entering your genitals. Since this area is so much more delicate, this can cause infections.

It is also not advisable to take extremely long or frequent baths. Sitting for a long time inside the tub could be fairly dangerous, because bacteria could easily reach the bladder wall, thereb causing several health inconveniences. You do not have to spend hours in the bath, in order to achieve good intimate cleanliness.

Another important recommendation for preventing, and therefore avoiding suffering from a urinary tract infection, is to never hold your pee. Whenever you feel you need to go, you should immediately head for the bathroom.

  • Use cotton panties

You underwear should be good quality, and not too tight.  This will help prevent urinary tract infections (UTI’s).  Because of all the aforementioned reasons, underwear has a lot to do with this issue.  Underwear should preferably be cotton, allowing for good ventilation, and for avoiding moisture, which could cause irritation, rashes, and frequent infections.

  • Follow a healthy diet

Following a healthy diet is apparent even in your appearance. It is said that “you are what you eat”, and when you are not very well hydrated, your urine will be a lot darker. If you hydrate yourself correctly by drinking enough water, and by eating fruits that make up a healthy diet, you will go to the bathroom more frequently, and it will be clearer in color. This will eliminate harmful bacteria.

As you may have noticed, these are simple hygiene and behavioral rules that aren’t difficult at all in assimilating into your life. All women should know these rules so as to never suffer from this annoying and painful condition.
