Suffer From Migraines? This Piercing Could Be a Solution (VIDEO)

Humans have been poking holes in themselves since at least 4,000 years ago in the Middle East according to the aptly named Painful Pleasures.

Why are humans so obsessed with piercings?  Originally, piercings – more specifically, the rings that went in said piercings – were permanent gifts from a husband to his wife upon marriage, representing financial security for her even if they were eventually divorced.

But you’d have to have a serious diamond earring today for that to be a feasible benefit. So why are they still so popular? There are likely as many reasons for getting a piercing as there are people. However, have you ever thought that a piercing could relieve headaches?

With a little bit of acupuncture theory and just a little pin prick, you’ could very well find yourself comfortable without that numb, headache feeling.

Known as a ‘daith piercing,’ this particular trend has gained quite a bit of popularity recently, with major news outlets getting in on the action and spreading the story of the piercing’s potential for health and pain relief for all.

YouTuber ‘BreeAnn Barbie’ also put together this video of her experience with the daith piercing:

Acupuncture has been around for ages as a form of therapy and relief for many types of pain. The daith piercing essentially operates on this principle by stimulating nerves underneath the skin of the ear’s inner cartilage fold.

As a result, the body produces pain-relieving substances like endorphins, as Huffington Post reports. These substances are, of course, what is responsible for the pain relief from migraines after a daith piercing.
