What are Hives and How to Treat Them Naturally

Hives  are a skin condition which manifests through skin rashes, swelling and irritation. They are usually caused by  stings or an allergic reaction, although exposure to chemicals and toxins, some foods and insect bites and stings can also cause the rashes.

The main treatment of hives involves antihistamines or corticosteroids, while the prevention involves avoiding the triggers. However, there are many natural remedies which can resolve the itching, swelling and inflammation, and work just as good!

Oatmeal is the perfect hives-soothing remedy. Put 2 cups of ground oatmeal in a old sock, then fill your tub with water and dab the sock on the hives to relieve the itching and inflammation.

Baking soda

Baking soda has anti-inflammatory properties that can treat the itching and swelling. Put a cup of baking soda in a bathtub full of water, then soak in it for 15-20 minutes to get some much-needed relief.

Witch hazel

Witch hazel is a herb with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Applying it on your hives every day will reduce the pain, inflammation and swelling and relieve the problem quickly.

ACV

Apple cider vinegar is a great remedy against various skin problems. It can reduce inflammation and swelling, and is perfect against hives. Mix a bit of ACV with some corn starch and apply the paste on the affected areas, then leave it to work for 20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.
